RCPS Press Report 21st April 2016

Members and their guests recently enjoyed the conviviality of the Annual Awards night and dinner, held at the Black Lion in Skelton on Ure. Incoming President elect, Geoffrey Blackman, welcomed everyone ahead of the prize giving. During the course of the season members have taken part in up to seven competitions, earning points for securing Commended, Highly Commended, 3rd, 2nd and 1st place in either or both of the print and digital sections with a bonus for the person declared the overall winner. Competition winners were: Richard Littlefair in Holidays, Stuart Holmes in Dusk until Dawn, David Morland in Altered Reality and in Sport and Photo Journalism, David Uffindall in Landscape, John Elvin in Portrait and Lyndsay Campbell in the President’s Cup. The Photographer of the Year, with 42 points, was John Elvin, closely followed by David Morland with 40 points with Lyndsay Campbell in third place. Twenty-six members, roughly 59% of the membership, scored one or more points in the competitions so well done to everyone!

The President thanked the outgoing Committee members for their work and welcomed the new recruits. He also thanked Helen Tabor for her work in producing the Members’ Handbook and presented her with flowers as a token of appreciation.
