RCPS Press Report 4th August 2016

We are closing in fast to this Sunday, 7th August, which is the deadline date for entries for our Annual Exhibition. All prints and digital images should be with Derek by then. We have been well informed that late entries will not be acceptable! The success of this event on Saturday, 3rd September, depends on members putting in entries for display. Remember this a public exhibition and the public like what they see – no judges being technical, just family, friends and visitors taking pleasure from the many and varied prints and digital images that will be on display. Even if you have not yet entered a competition, as a member of RCPS you can still entre prints or digital images according to the guidance issued earlier by the sub-Exhibition sub-committee, so please do not be shy, give it a go. It is really pleasing to see a photograph that you have taken on display in a public exhibition – go for it! Each year for the last three years, we have improved visitor attendance year on year and with your help we hope to do so again. Having put in your entries, on the day bring along family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues and enjoy free entry, great pictures and images and sit down and enjoy wonderful refreshments as well!

There’s another chance for photographers to get in action, taking action shots with the Women Only Annual Charity Sportive comes to our county on 14th August. There are three races of 30, 60 and 103 miles around an area roughly bounded by Newton on Ouse in the south, Yafforth in the north, Ripon to the west and Ampleforth to the east. A number of photographers from RCPS and from York Camera Club are officially covering the races with a remit to ‘take fabulous pictures of the sportive and riders on the routes – riders on bikes, fun, smiles, the essence of Yorkshire!’ Should be a great day and especially so if the weather holds fair.
