RCPS Press Report 20th October 2016

At a recent meeting, a couple of dozen hard souls, armed with cameras, tripods and an occasional flashgun, ventured forth into the city to try their hand at low light and night time photography. On one of the chilliest nights of autumn so far the intrepid band explored the Market Place, Kirkgate, Bedern Bank and the Cathedral precincts, amongst other locations. On returning to base, there was time for a warming beverage and much looking at camera playbacks and discussions about the results of the night.

Next Monday we welcome visitors from York Photographic Society who are going to share with us some of their work and talk about their photographic experiences.

Monday 24th October is also the closing date for our competition, Altered Reality. The rules for this competition state that ‘The image must obviously display a change in natural colour, form, shape or any combination of these three. Creative images are montages (a blending of composite or multiple images). High Dynamic Range (HDR) images without further changes are not considered ‘Altered Reality’. The original image must be made by the entrant. If you are submitting a montage, all images/elements must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. Original images must be altered by the maker; artwork or computer generated graphics generated by the entrant may be incorporated, if the original photographic content predominates. Images may not be constructed entirely within a computer.’ Finally, advance warning that our third competition, Landscape has a closing date of 14th November.
