RCPS Press Report 27th April 2017

On Monday the 11th of April 11members got together for a drink and a natter at The Golden Lion, there was quite a buzz about the place as the allotment society and a choir were also using the venue. We managed to seat ourselves in corner and share our photography news; folk had among other things been to see the Flying Scotsman cross Ribblehead Viaduct, climb in Scotland or take photos of wildlife in their garden. Images were viewed and plans made for further photo opportunities, so all in all a good evening was had by everyone.

Then on Saturday 15th April the first event of our summer season took place at The Arches, our summer sub-committee led by Alistair had prepared an exciting session for our members and visitors, which also included tea, coffee and biscuits. The event was aimed at giving people the chance to get to know their cameras better, thus extending their photographic knowledge and improving their photography. There were different set ups around the room to explore different photographic techniques, along with appropriate lighting and experienced members available for guidance on which shutter speeds or aperture to use for the best results. We had a selection of items and flowers to create still life, an area for portrait shots with lighting and backdrop to add to the quality of the finished image and an exciting prospect of trying to capture the moment a drip hits the surface of the water. It was an excellent afternoon, with members honing their skills and having a good chinwag along the way, it was definitely a success.
