RCPS Press Report 14th September 2017

What a fantastic day we had on Saturday 2nd September – Ripon City Photographic Society’s Annual Exhibition, we had a record number of visitors too, just short of 350. With huge thanks to Derek and the exhibition sub-committee, the RCPS Committee and all our members who were involved on any level with the Exhibition.  The comments from our visitors and members were so very encouraging, with praise for the quality and breadth of style. There was definitely something for everybody and I know folk were struggling to decide on which were their favourite three images!

Oh and I cannot fail to mention the cakes – so not only did our member’s do us proud on images, their skills and efforts carried forth to their baking skills! What an amazing array of scrumptiousness was on display, though it didn’t last long as folk had a cuppa and ate cake whilst watching the digital images on the television – kindly loaned by G Craggs. Thank you goes to all our other sponsors too.                     This was Derek’s last year as co-ordinator for the Exhibition, so extra special thanks go to him for all his endeavours, and thanks also to Carol for co-ordinating Cafe@RCPS, as she too is standing down. However, do not worry, as I am sure you will be pleased and relieved to learn we have a successor for co-ordinating the Exhibition so plans are already being made for 2018.

So we are now just a few days away from the start of our new season; there was much excitement when members got sight of the new RCPS booklet, which sets out our programme of workshops, presentations and competitions. We meet at The Arches, Holy Trinity Church 7.30 – 9.30ish, we have refreshments available at the start and mid-way through the evening. You are welcome to come as a visitor before joining and I am looking forward to seeing members and visitors on Monday 18th September. Our first session will include images from our varied and interesting summer programme as well as our members’ summer images. See you there!
