RCPS was founded in 1949. We are a warm, friendly and enthusiastic group who are always happy to share our knowledge. All levels of photographer, from beginner to national award holders are guaranteed a warm welcome. We meet on Monday evenings from September until March and endeavour to run a varied programme with nationally recognised speakers, internal print and projected image competitions, demonstrations and a variety of evening and day hands-on workshops. During the summer, visits to a variety of local and country venues of photographic interest are offered.
Our society is affiliated to the Yorkshire Photographic Union (YPU) and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and we encourage members to participate in their competitions and exhibitions. In recent years we have won a number of individual and society awards including the YPU Young Photographer of the Year 2015. We also have an increasing number of experienced members who have achieved awards from both the PAGB and the Royal Photographic Society (RPS).
If you enjoy taking photographs with anything from smartphones to the latest DSLR cameras and would like to develop your level of skills together with like-minded members, then please join us. Due to the current restriction we are now conducting our meetings over Zoom on Mondays at 7:30, please see the programme page for more details. You can contact us using the contact us form or if you’re on Facebook through our webpage.
