Ripon City Photographic Society – Summer Events Calendar

Join the organising team above for a Fun, Informative, and enjoyable time. Feedback from the questionnaire was incorporated to compile a summer events agenda, the dates, & timing are balanced giving all a chance to attend.

Our aim was to foster a closer interaction with new & seasoned members in order to get to know one another better, we can then gain from each other’s experience and specialist skills. The exact meeting point locations will be communicated to the members closer to the actual events by our usual club e mail updates sent out by Bill Swan.

The 6 events will commence in April and run through to August. We agreed only one rule: there are no rules; if you come along we would encourage people to mingle in part to assist mentoring, however if you see the opportunity to be more individual please feel free take your leave as you see fit.

  • Saturday April 15th 2pm – 6pm Part A

This first meeting was to run a Tech. session aimed at newer members to help them get the best from their own equipment. Just bring your own camera along and we will explain the functions and the features. Hopefully this will enable people to get more out of the summer program. Part B. For more advanced members. I will bring along some specialist pro lenses ranging from 600mm to Fisheye, Tilt- Shift Perspective control modified for same axis, De-Focus control, Cat Mirror, Macro types, and numerous special Long focus tripod heads and dedicated support equipment to show members what this equipment achieves and what benefits they offer. The room venue is our normal Ripon Holy Trinity Church, The Arches meeting place, and the room cost of £27.50 can be split after we know the number of attendees.

  • Friday Evening May 12th 5.30pm onward

Ripon Racecource This is a free entry race event and hopefully you can enjoy the spectacle. A good opportunity to photograph all the sporting attractions and the attendees. The only restriction on their race homepage is no flash photography as this can upset the horses. They actively encourage photography and have an annual competition for attendees’ images, we will help you coordinate your entries. NB. Any images intended for publication must be firstly approved by their management.
