Opportunities to Exhibit Your Photography

One of the benefits of RCPS membership is the chance to exhibit your photography at a variety of local events and venues throughout the year. From community events to partnership exhibitions, members have the chance to share their work with a wide audience and celebrate the diversity of photography within the club.  Opportunities include:

National Year of Reading 2026 –  Photography Exhibition

Images for The National Year of Reading Photography Exhibition is currently on tour. The exhibition, a collaborative project in partnership with Ripon Library is visiting libraries across North Yorkshire throughout 2026, and returning to Ripon Library early in 2027. While only twenty of the submitted images could be included in the touring exhibition, this catalogue brings together all the submitted entries, each accompanied by a short narrative from the author.

Mini Photography Exhibition at St Wilfrid’s Folk Festival.

RCPS are invited to hold a mini exhibition at St Wilfrid’s Folk Festival each year.  The 2026 Fest, held in August, was a great success. Although modest in size, the display attracted a steady stream of visitors throughout the day. Fest-goers enjoyed viewing the framed prints and browsing a wider selection of members’ images on the Society’s iPad, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase photography from Ripon and beyond. It was a pleasure to talk with so many people about our members’ work and the society’s activities.

RCPS Annual Photography Exhibition

Our Annual Photography Exhibition is the highlight of the society’s calendar. This year’s event will be held at Allhallowgate Methodist Hall on 29 August and feature an extensive display of members’ photography in both print and digital formats. The exhibition celebrates the creativity, skill and diversity of our membership and provides an excellent opportunity for members’ to exhibit their work to the local community.

National Trust Fountains Abbey Partnership Exhibition

Preparations are well underway for this exciting exhibition, presented in partnership with Fountains Abbey. Earlier this year, members were invited to submit photographs inspired by the theme “Nature, beauty, and history for everyone, forever.”

Thanks to the National Trust for the use of this image

The Fountains Abbey selection team chose the images to be displayed, and work is in progress preparing the exhibition. Running from 12 September to 18 October, this will showcase members’ photography in one of Yorkshire’s most iconic heritage locations, celebrating both the talent of RCPS photographers and the unique character of Fountains Abbey.

Photography Exhibition at the Ripon Together Green Fair

The Ripon Together Green Fair, held each October, is an annual community event celebrating sustainability, local organisations and community life. Each year RCPS members are invited to submit prints and digital images for consideration for this exhibition, providing yet another opportunity to display their work to a wider audience. Full details of the submission process is announced in the run up to the event.

The Ripon Men’s Shed Social Space (Permanent Photography Exhibition)

This was a unique one-off opportunity early in 2026 when the Men’s Shed in Ripon invited RCPS members to submit photographs to display in their newly refurbished social space.  Many images, representing Ripon and the immediate area, were submitted by members with the final selection being made by members of Ripon Men’s Shed and now displayed at the Shed!
